Came here during lunch on the weekend. The restaurant is located in a small but pretty busy plaza, but we had no problem finding parking. Servers were very attentive. We ordered three dishes:
Bo ne with mushroom sauce: beef was tender, the sauce was SO delicious ( wish it was a bit creamier), and came with salad and bread. I would come back for this. 5/5!!!
Bot chien: surprisingly good!!! I'm faithful to iLanet bot chien ( best in OC), but the sauce here was almost identical and the pickled papaya ( do chua) was a generous portion. The top mo was not as crispy as expected, but still good. 4.5/5 !
Hu tieu: did not try as my friend ordered this. But the portion was huge and she enjoyed it.
Overall, I would give this place 4.5/5 stars ( rounded up to 5 lol). Would definitely come back. Pricing is a bit on the higher side, but their portion is big and we had leftovers for dinner.
Great Hu Tieu! The soup and service is amazing and super quick. I have been to many places and the broth here is superb!! Would definitely recommend.
I liked it so much here I came back two weeks after my initial visit.
The bánh mì chảo ($18.99) is fire. Even before eating, the smell itself is intoxicating. The sizzling plate comes stacked with filet mignon, sausages, pâté, xíu mại and chả lụa. It also comes with a side salad and the most buttery baguette. All the meats are simmered in some sort of sauce. It's slightly sweet, but hardly noticeable once you start eating. Dunk a piece of buttery baguette in the sauce before topping it with any of the meats. It's sweet and savory and oh so good.
The number 1 is also very good if you're in a noodley mood. The noodles on their own are extremely tasty and the broth is also rich in flavor.
Portions are generous so you can definitely share if you want to try a few things. Come to Grandpa's if you're looking for something new.
The only thing that makes me upset about this place is that I didn't know about it sooner!
This place is divine, and it really takes you out of the "pho comfort zone."
I had grandmas egg noodles with egg and rice noodles and man oh man! I was in heaven! The noodles are perfectly cooked and bouncy but not chewy, and the sliced pork they put in the bowl gets a 10/10 on its own! It's so flavorful! And whatever sauce they put in the bowl?? I could drink it!
The broth is beautifully clear yet full bodied and flavorful, and the quail eggs were so yummy and creamy, that was my first time trying them!
The service here is accommodating and no frills, but I like that. It's like eating at families house!
I can tell this place really gets live when it's late, but we came here a couple of hours after it opened so it wasn't too busy.
I'll be back for sure. Top 5 Asian spot and they ain't number 5!

Food is tasty, mainly noodles more than anything but broth is powerful with amenities along with it. The appetizers are small in portion. Good atmosphere though. Customer service could be better but it is Asian.
This spot has become my favorite go-to for satisfying noodle cravings, surpassing even my love for pho. Every dish on the menu is a delightful experience, making it a must-try for anyone seeking noodle perfection.
